If I had to pick one ideal job right now, I would definitely want to be a sports news broadcaster, just like the guys you see on Sports Center. A job like this would be absolutely perfect for me for two reasons: one, I love all sports and could talk about them for hours on end, and two, I would have no problem waking up for work every morning, no matter how early, because I would be doing something that I love. The great thing about sports is that every game, every season, there's a feeling of uncertainty. Sure most people have teams in which they want to win, but nothings ever definite. It's this fact that would keep me interested in reporting on sports for my entire life.
As far as my American Dream, this signifies that I want a good amount of freedom in my job, I mean, who doesn't? Usually, the guys and girls on sports center like Chris Berman, Rece Davis, Linda Cohn, and John Anderson wake up rather early, give sports reports until about 1 o'clock, and then they're done for the day. Furthermore, I would have the freedom to travel all over the world reporting live from the sidelines of all kinds of major sports events throughout the year. In so few words, this job would be paradise.

I could definitely see you as a sports broadcaster. And that would be a job in which the freedom would be very nice, as you said. It would be a perfect way to stay connected to sports and such. I know watching sports, especially in person, makes me want to get up and play too, so do you think you would ever get antsy and want to just go out and play?
Max,
Well said, my man. ESPN, specifically "Sportscenter," sure seems like the life. I would have no problem waking up every day if I worked there. I mean, I guess I could grow to dislike it like any other job, but it would take a whole lot longer. If I had my way, I'd like to do the 1 AM edition of the show as it is most often re-run all through the next morning. It is because of this that you have built a relationship with all of the anchors that you mentioned in your piece - they all have worked the 1 AM "Sportscenter." This goes perfectly with the American Dream. We all want to be recognized for what we do and who we are and well-liked for the way we do it. There are a lot of ways to achieve this, but being an anchor on "Sportscenter" might just be the best. If I don't stop writing right now, I will just go off about ESPN and "Sportscenter" ad nauseum and nobody wants that. If my dream doesn't work out, maybe I could attach myself to yours? It wouldn't be as weird as it sounds.
I think that your dream of becoming a sports news broadcaster is typical of most Americans' ideal job: doing something they love and getting paid for it. Plus, it'd be great knowing that people are turning to you looking for sports information, and who doesn't want to be on TV?

Do they really sit in that studio all day and report the sports news over and over again? I thought they recorded once and just played it over throughout the day. Anyways, don't forget the perk of meeting stars! I was like 10 feet away from dwight howard at a wizards game and thought "man, I wish I was the one interviewing him." In conclusion, go lakers.
I think the main point you were trying to convey is that your American dream is to do something you love, and that love just happens to involve sports to the "max" (pun intended). Your passion for sports definitely comes across in class and therefore I feel like you have fittingly chosen a career in which you'll excel because you'll enjoy what you do every day. I can see how sportscasting can be exciting because of the uncertainty that you spoke of. Good luck with pursuing that dream!
